WATERCOLORS - FLOWERS

Fresh flowers in the studio will serve as the inspiration for the start of this dynamic workshop. Janet will guide students through a series of playful and expressive exercises designed to capture the essence of flowers in a loose, intuitive style. You'll explore the unique character of individual blooms, discover unexpected color combinations, and experiment with techniques that let watercolor lead the way.
Throughout the workshop, Janet will offer live demonstrations and personalized guidance, encouraging participants to embrace spontaneity and develop confidence in their own creative voice. Emphasis will be placed on preserving the white of the paper, avoiding muddy colors, and working with intuitive composition and color choices.
In addition to demos and one-on-one instruction, students will enjoy a fun and supportive “Show and Tell” session—an opportunity to share and celebrate the work created during class.

WATERCOLORS - HEAD & FIGURE

This dynamic workshop is designed for participants of all levels to quickly gain confidence in approaching the head and figure in a spontaneous, intuitive, and expressive way.
The class will include demonstrations, instruction, individual assistance, "show and tell" sessions, and a series of enjoyable exercises, all integrated into the painting time. Topics covered will include unique color application, translucent flesh tones, features, the essence of children, and figures. This workshop is beneficial for all skill levels, and special support is available for those new to portrait and figure painting—no fear!
Students can work from their photographs or those provided by Janet. Our goals are to "see" in new ways, bringing life and interpretation to the portrait and figure. Janet will offer drawing tips for beginners in painting people. The focus will be on discovering new colors, seeing light, discerning composition, and understanding values. On the last day, a model may be available to pose for figure paintings.
Everyone will leave this workshop with new confidence in approaching the head and figure.
