The Watercolor Creations In Studio Class is for students who have come through the Beginning Watercolor Class or who have a solid foundation with Watercolor painting. Students are encouraged to bring reference to paint what they are passionate about.

Drawing skills are not mandatory but are encouraged. There will be a Lightbox to facilitate tracing of a photo or other references provided by the student if the student is intimidated about drawing. This class is ultimately about enjoying painting.

Individual one on one instruction takes place during the class as needed.

Watercolor Creations is a WIN/WIN for every student as they work on what they are passionate about and see what others are working on by sharing ideas, techniques, successes, and ultimately becoming a learning experience created by the needs of each student, which creates a superior platform of creativity for everyone!

The Beginning Watercolor class is an entry level, beginner, class. Students signing up for this class usually have little to no previous experience with watercolor. This is a foundational class with exercises given each week to build the student’s knowledge and confidence with the many techniques used to complete a watercolor painting. Critical information covered will be pigment choice, paper choice, brush choices, palette preferences, pigment personalities, water to pigment ratio, brush strokes, color mixing, along with the importance of strong values and using the white of the paper as “white”.

In addition, the student will learn the basic techniques of wet on wet painting, wet on dry painting, flat washes, variegated washes, soft and hard edges, techniques to paint skies with clouds, how to use a credit card to create rocks, how to use Liquid Frisket, how to spatter, scumble, scrape and lift paint, how to use a toothbrush for texture, how to use plastic wrap for texture and many more exciting techniques!

This class is designed to have the student learning 3 to 5 important skills at the same time by doing the structured exercises so that by the end of the semester the student is ready to begin painting! The student will leave this semester with a journal with all of the exercises to reference for years to come!

Thursday Mornings  9:30am - 12:30pm
