Cherie Blickenstaff began her career as an artist, creating original works, exhibiting at Florida outdoor art shows, and licensing her designs to national reproduction companies. After more than 20 years working in other fields, she returned to her true passion—painting.
Cherie holds a BFA in Visual Communications from Florida State University and has a professional background in graphic design. Now retired, she is once again actively creating, exhibiting, and teaching. She especially enjoys sharing her skills and knowledge with students who may have once believed they could never paint, inspiring them to discover the joy of artistic expression.

Dive into creativity and paint a little piece of paradise with A New Beginning, a vibrant acrylic painting workshop with artist Cherie Blickenstaff.
In this colorful underwater scene, students will paint a charming baby sea turtle gliding through crystal-clear tropical waters. Cherie will guide you through techniques for creating a luminous turquoise ocean, adding dimension and texture to the turtle’s shell, and building depth with layers of greens, blues, and earthy tones.
You’ll explore blending, layering, highlighting, and creating movement in the water, including playful bubbles and rays of sunlight filtering through the surface. A turtle template will be provided, making this workshop approachable for artists of all experience levels.
No previous painting experience is necessary. All materials are provided—just bring your creativity and get ready to paint your own little piece of paradise!

Paint the peaceful magic of a beach at sunset with Carefree Sunset, an expressive acrylic painting workshop with artist Cherie Blickenstaff.
In this beautiful coastal scene, students will create a glowing sunset sky filled with warm pinks, corals, oranges, and soft purples before blending those colors into the shimmering blues of the ocean. Cherie will guide you through techniques for capturing the warmth and atmosphere of a quiet evening at the beach.
Explore blending, layering, light, reflection, and expressive brushwork as you learn to paint sunlight dancing across the water, gentle waves, wet sand, and two figures strolling along the shoreline. You’ll also discover how color and brushwork can create a sense of depth and movement while keeping the painting loose and expressive.
No previous painting experience is necessary. All materials are provided, including an 11" x 14" canvas.
