PAINT ALONG ACRYLICS

Instructor - Cherie Blickenstaff
Cherie Blickenstaff began her career as an artist, creating original works, exhibiting at Florida outdoor art shows, and licensing her designs to national reproduction companies. After more than 20 years working in other fields, she returned to her true passion—painting.
Cherie holds a BFA in Visual Communications from Florida State University and has a professional background in graphic design. Now retired, she is once again actively creating, exhibiting, and teaching. She especially enjoys sharing her skills and knowledge with students who may have once believed they could never paint, inspiring them to discover the joy of artistic expression.
INTRO TO LIQUID ACRYLICS

In this introductory class, students will explore the vibrant, fluid world of liquid acrylic inks while creating bold, expressive artwork inspired by nature. Using colorful examples such as luminous butterflies, tropical flowers, and richly patterned frogs, we’ll focus on how inks flow, blend, and layer to create striking color transitions and organic forms.
Students will learn:
-
An overview of liquid acrylic inks and how they differ from traditional acrylics
-
How to control flow, transparency, and saturation
-
Techniques for layering, blending, and creating smooth gradients
-
Using line work and contrast to define shapes and add visual impact
This class is perfect for beginners or artists curious about loosening up their style and embracing the unpredictable beauty of inks. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to experiment, play with color, and let the medium do some of the work. Students will leave with a finished piece on 9x12 watercolor paper.
All supplies will be provided.
