Instructor - Marcelle Zanetti
Marcelle Zanetti, a Massachusetts native, earned degrees in painting and art education from the University of Massachusetts and Southern Connecticut State University. She moved to Stuart, Florida, in 1981, opening her first studio. Her 1983 debut exhibition was praised as "A Botanist’s Dream" by Kenneth Crawford of Martin County News, leading to representation by renowned gallerist Bruce Helander at his Worth Avenue Gallery in Palm Beach.
Zanetti’s work has been exhibited at prestigious venues, including the Florida State Capitol, The Society of the Four Arts, the South Florida Science Museum, and the A.E. Backus Gallery. Galleries from Key West to Washington, D.C., and even São Paulo, Brazil, have featured her paintings. Her art has appeared in Florida Design Magazine, The Palm Beach Post, and events at the Adrienne Arsht Center. DreamWorks motion pictures featured her work in Red Eye, and designer Todd Oldham incorporated her paintings into his Miami Beach furniture launch.
Her large-scale paintings have been shown alongside Rosenquist, Rauschenberg, and Olitski at major curated exhibitions. She is widely collected by private and corporate clients, including Tropicana, Bank of America, Disney World Resorts, and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.
With over 30 years of experience, Zanetti has managed and operated galleries in Wynwood and Palmetto Bay. She taught painting at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for over a decade and currently maintains a studio in Jupiter, Florida. Her work is on display at Grove Galleries (Miami), Chandler Gallery (Jupiter), and Embraer Executive Jets (Melbourne).

Join artist and instructor Marcelle Zanetti for a four-week painting course designed to help students strengthen their understanding of color, composition, and painting technique while developing their own work in acrylic or oil.
Each class will build on essential painting concepts through hands-on instruction and practical exercises. Students will explore how to simplify and transfer reference images, understand the relationships between colors, and use traditional painting techniques to create greater depth, dimension, and visual balance.
Throughout the course, Marcelle will guide students through:

Color Theory Basics — Build a stronger understanding of color relationships and how they work together in a painting.

Working from Reference Images — Learn how to transfer a reference image and break it down into simple shapes as a foundation for a successful composition.

Mixing Tints & Shades — Discover how to create lighter and darker values without relying on black, resulting in richer and more nuanced color.

Old Master Glazing Techniques — Explore traditional glazing methods to build depth, luminosity, and dimension within a painting.

The Color Wheel & Complementary Colors — Learn how complementary colors can be used to create balance, harmony, and visual interest.
At the end of each class, students will participate in a group critique, providing an opportunity to evaluate their work, receive constructive input, and learn from the perspectives of fellow artists.
Students may register for individual classes or participate in the complete four-week course. Attending all four classes is encouraged for students who want to build upon each week's lessons and maintain continuity in their work.
