About The Instructor

Caroline is a K-12 certified art educator, ceramic sculptor, watercolor artist, and Zazzle Pro designer.  At the University of Florida, her concentration was centered around conceptual figurative sculpture.  She has taught a variety of subjects to all secondary grade levels including ceramics, drawing, painting, and sculpture at IB magnet and independent college - preparatory schools. Caroline's students have been recognized by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers with Scholastic gold and silver regional awards and a national silver medal. Additionally, she has a 100% student pass rate on the Advanced Placement 3D Art and Design College Board portfolio review. Caroline has received the New Professional Award from the Florida Art Education Association and has raised over $3,000 to enhance her programs. Caroline believes the key to learning is to keep an open mind, continually strive for growth, and always maintain a helpful heart.

Mondays - JUNE 10 & 17  1pm - 3pm

Animals Everywhere

Using a lightbox, students will learn to trace the contours of their chosen animal from at least 3 angles, exploring its form and character. After tracing, it's time to bring their creations to life with vibrant watercolors, adding splashes of color to their artwork. Once dry, markers will be used to add intricate details and textures. Don't miss out on this imaginative journey through art and animals!

Thursdays - JUNE 13 & 20  1pm - 3pm

Donut Paintings

Through step-by-step guidance, students will explore the intricate process of bringing their sweet treat to life on paper. Additionally, they will learn about the world of shading and contrast as they craft a value scale with watercolors. By the end of the class, each student will proudly compose a masterpiece, showcasing their newfound skills and imagination.

Mondays - JUNE 24 & JULY 1  1pm - 3pm

Oil and Chalk Pastels 

In this class, students will learn to draw intricate florals or delicious fruit using the Grid Method, a structured approach to sketching. Students will be encouraged to bring their own reference photos or have parents provide them, allowing for personalization and creative expression. Get ready to unleash your artistic talents in a fun and supportive environment!

Thursdays -  JUNE 27 & JULY 4  1pm - 3pm

Felt Donut 

In this creative class, young artists will dive into the world of 3D sculpture by crafting their very own felt donut. Using pre-cut templates, students will layer felt pieces and stitch them together using needle and thread. With the addition of beads for sprinkles and other embellishments, children will bring their sculptures to life in a fun and engaging way. Join us as we explore the art of sculpting with felt and unleash your imaginations!

Watercolor and Ink

Explore the exciting world of gestural drawing and painting where you'll learn to capture movement and expression. Get inspired by reference photos taken by either the teacher or yourself and let your imagination soar as you bring your creations to life. It's a fun and interactive way to develop your artistic skills while having a blast with friends!

Thursdays - JULY 11 & JULY 18  1pm - 3pm

Mirror Ball 

Explore the magic of neon acrylic paint on gessoed wood as we delve into the fascinating world of color mixing and value blending. Students will learn essential techniques while creating a basic value scale, honing their skills in mixing various shades. Calling all Taylor Swift fans—this project is tailor-made for Swifties to express their creativity in a fun and dynamic environment!

Mondays - JULY 22 & JULY 29  1pm - 3pm

Animals in Color

Explore the fundamentals of composition while capturing inspiration from reference photos. Through hands-on activities, artists will use transfer paper to overlay contour outlines and value placements onto a vibrant underpainting. Tailored to individual skill levels, mediums will vary from pastels, markers, oil, or chalk pastels to acrylic paints. Progressing through levels, students will experiment with pastels over photos, marker sketches on paper, and advance to acrylics or a combination on canvas.

DROPPING OFF & PICKING UP

Please come into the studio to sign your child in & out every day they have class. If someone other than a parent or guardian is dropping off or picking up please be sure they are on the authorized list and can provide a photo ID.
