Intensive Painting - Pushing the Boundaries

This series is designed for the serious artists of all levels and mediums who have a desire and a commitment to improve their work. The workshop also addresses the needs of the student who wants to take their work to a more advanced level.

All students will receive instruction formulated to help one recognize and prioritize their strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan of study. Content will apply to all forms of subject matter, still life, abstracts, landscapes, etc.  

  • Session 1: Improving compositional elements, experimenting with expressive brush work 

  • Session 2: Strengthening value relationships, developing a better understanding of color relationships

Sessions will include a lecture on specific topics listed above and a demonstration illustrating the principles presented.

Intensive Painting Supply list:

  • Palette Colors in all mediums:  Titanium White (not for watercolor), Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow (Hansa Yellow in acrylics), Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Prussian Blue, Ivory Black.  

  • #1, #4 and #8 flat brushes, #2 rigger brush

  • Dark brown watercolor pencil

  • Four 8x10 canvas panels for oils or acrylic painters, Arches watercolor pad 7”x10’” for watercolor or individual sheets cut to 8”x10”.

  • Small sketch pad with Charcoal stick (soft) or pencil (soft)
