Expressive Brushstrokes in Acrylics
Spend a couple of fun filled days exploring the unique attributes of acrylic. Vibrant colors. Rich textures. Expressive brushwork. All are easily achieved in acrylic. Below is an abbreviated agenda of both days.
Class begins at 9:30 am ending at 4:30 pm with a one hour lunch break.
Day 1 of this workshop students will work from provided reference material Spencer will demonstrate his approach to designing, developing and following through to the finished painting. Afterwards students will then be unleashed to implement what they have learned while Spencer circulates among them assisting any that have questions.
Day 2 begins with a recap of the previous day. If appropriate, Spencer will do a brief demo to solidify student understanding, followed by time for students to put final touches on Day 1's painting. Then students will create their own painting working from their personal photos or reference photos provided by Spencer. These need to be landscape images, in keeping with the theme of the workshop. This is a great time to break out any vacation photos you've been thinking about painting.
This class is appropriate for all skill levels. You will love this workshop as you experience the vibrancy of this medium.
Throughout the workshop we will discuss composition and design and the role they play in a successful painting.
LUNCH - Students are also welcome to bring their own lunch or visit a nearby restaurant.
This is one time you won't hear me say you have to buy the best and most expensive! The lower end paints, such as these, will work great for our purposes.
If you have acrylic supplies already, bring them. No need to spend a bunch of money unnecessarily. If you have any questions about what you have regarding whether it will work, shoot me an email and we can talk.
