In Studio Workshop - Painting Boats and Harbors
About This Course
Primary emphasis will be on achieving accuracy and the true character of boat shapes. Secondary emphasis will be on the various aspects of painting calm water and making it look wet. Additional focus will cover painting rigging and other details. Students will have the opportunity to observe a complete 16 x 20 demo painting. They will also develop their own paintings and receive personal instruction at their easels.
About the Instructor
Robert J. Simone is a respected instructor show strives to inform, encourage, and inspire. He is known for his ability to demonstrate and explain his methods and techniques. He is a generous, organized and patient teacher. According to one appreciative student, “He knows what we need to know. And he is willing to share.”
As an artist Simone has received numerous awards for his both studio and plein air work. Recent awards include 2nd Prize at NOAPS “Best of America” National Small Works Exhibition 2020, Award of Excellence NOAPS Fall International Online Exhibition 2020, Best of Show Plein Air Southwest 2019, Nita Enoch Interiors Award for Best Painting With an Animal Plein Air Richmond 2018, 1st Prize Lighthouse Plein Air Festival 2017 and Artist Choice for Best Tilghman Island Painting Plein Air Easton 2016. His works have also been included in the American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America Shows.
Robert is a Signature Member of both the American Society of Marine Artists and The Outdoor Painters Society. He is an exhibiting artist member of the prestigious Salmagundi Club in NYC.
