Each class will be a separate lesson so we can explore different options in expressing nature our own individual way.
Be prepared to do both a square and a rectangle canvas in each class.
Bring to class a willingness to experiment. Allow the “ugly” to happen.
WE CAN HAVE FUN FIXING THE UGLY
Each class will start with my demo and instructions on the goals for this painting experiment.
Take notes and then paint along with me.
I look forward to painting with you all.
Classes will be held on Thursdays in September & October from 10am - 12pm.
Acrylic Class Supply List
Sketch book and drawing pencils. You only need 1 or 2 pencils, an eraser and a small ruler.
PAINTS - please do not by the cheapest paints - you will not be happy with the results and frustrated with the painting experience. Paints are cheaper because they have more filler and less quality pigment so you use more in a mix to make a pleasing color. Michael’s and Hobby Lobby carry the brands listed.
Others can be ordered online or at Jerry’s Artarama.
Buy the tubes of thicker paint, not the bottles of fluid acrylic.
Golden - the highest quality - most expensive, profession quality and results
Liquitex - good quality and reasonably priced - professional & student grades
Winsor & Newton – a good quality student grade.
1 Large tube of Titanium White - optional addition is Titan Buff from Golden.
Small tubes of the following:
2 Blue - Ultramarine Blue and Phthalo Blue (or Primary Cyan)
2 Yellow - Hansa yellow medium and Diarylide yellow
2 Red - Primary Magenta and Napthol Red light (or Pyrrole Red light)
1 Black - Ivory or Mars
Optional but nice to have. Phthalo Green - Pyrrole Orange - Dioxazine Purple
Any other colors you love to use.
