March 9 & 10, 2024
10:00 am - 3:00 pm
2-Day Workshop $365

Workshop Description:

Join us for this 2-day workshop with Marla Greenfield! We will be painting a still life together, step by step, that will include reflections on silver. This will be a valuable lesson that can be translated into painting other reflective surfaces including glass and water. Students will receive clear instruction and learn how to break the process of creating a painting down into manageable steps that can be used to approach virtually any subject matter. The class will cover glazing and layering, “learning” to see, using wet into wet techniques to let the paints combine on the paper, how to create rich dark values, and tackling reflective surfaces.

About The Instructor:

Marla Greenfield became a full-time watercolor artist in 1998 after retiring from a fifteen-year career in the investment business. She is drawn to watercolors because of their transparency and luminosity. Painting things she finds beautiful, peaceful and calming, she strives primarily to depict the beauty of light in her art. Marla is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and a past president and signature member of the New England Watercolor Society, where she has also served as a member of its board. She has exhibited in shows throughout the country, including the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society annual exhibitions and has won numerous awards, both on a regional and national level. She has been featured in American Artist Watercolor Magazine, with her work chosen for the cover. Her work has also been included in Splash 21: Capturing Mood and Splash 22: The Creative Spark.  She teaches both watercolor classes and workshops in a variety of locations throughout the country. Her work is currently on display at the NOA Gallery in Groton, MA, Artisans Way Gallery in Concord, MA and at the Florentine Frames Gallery in Weston, MA. It can also be viewed on her website: Marla graduated from Tufts University with a degree in Economics and Boston University with an MBA. She has dual residence in Wayland, Massachusetts and the Berkshires.
