THE ART OF NATURE:

A COLLAGE WORKSHOP

with

KATHRYN ADELE SCHUMACHER

February 8, 2020

10:00am - 3:00pm

This class will begin with a brief history of the origin of collage. Students will then do an “underpainting” on their paper or canvas. On that, we will build a collage composition in layers of paper and ephemera materials based on the students own theme and interpretation of Nature. The theme may be interpreted as but not limited to a landscape, marine life, gardens, flower pots, trees, porches, greenhouses, beaches, etc. It is advisable that students start gathering materials based on the theme they have chosen as soon as they sign up. These may include floral magazines, decorative papers, wallpaper, small shells, postcards, maps, sheet music and any interesting materials to enhance your collage. Students must have previous art experience, most materials will be supplied.

Kathryn Adele Schumacher received her BA degree from Rollins College (Florida) with majors in Fine Art & Art History. Kathryn is committed to pursuing her life-long joy and passion by being a full-time artist working primarily in Mixed media collage and Monotype printmaking.
