PAINTING NOCTURNES & TWILIGHT
January 10 & 11, 2020
5:00pm - 9:30pm
Join us for 8 hours of instruction and painting over two days with artist Carl Bretzke. Learn a basic approach to finishing a nocturne painting both plein air and in the studio. Discover an easy method of capturing a twilight effect (after sunset but before complete darkness)
Day 1: January 10, 2020 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm
5 – 6 pm slide presentation at The New Studio for the Visual Arts
6- 6:30 pm outdoor demo converting dark nocturne to twilight nocturne.
6:30 – 9:30 pm plein air nocturne painting with supervision.
Day 2: January 11, 2020 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm
6-9:30 pm return to The New Studio for the Visual arts for nocturne painting with supervision with option to convert you previous (day 1) dark nocturne to twilight nocturne.
Materials: a good nocturne easel light is strongly recommended. If you don’t have one I recommend the Artscape portable light from artescape.us
Any oil paints and brushes should be fine.
In likely event of rain, please bring a “night” image of your choice for studio nocturne painting on day one and late afternoon or twilight image on day two.
