YOU CAN LEARN TO DRAW!

  • Learning to draw is learning to see.

  • Drawing is act of focused observation.

  • Drawing is a process.

  • There are many ways to draw and many reasons for drawing.

  • Drawing is the basis for all visual arts no matter what your medium is!

  • Drawing is a also a medium the same as painting, pastels, sculpting, glass, etc…..

  • But there is only one way to learn to draw: PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!

We will be meeting once a week on Tues 1-4 for 7 weeks:

On the following dates: 7/13, 7/20, 8/3, 8/10, 8/17, 8/24, 8/31

This will be taught as a workshop not as a weekly class, because it will be progressive in content.

There will be lots of drawing homework every week to do between classes, 

because there is only one way to learn to draw: you guessed it - PRACTICE?

Following this workshop there will be a continuation in the fall:

intermediate drawing for those choosing to go further into the Drawing medium.

  • Contour drawing

  • Gesture drawing

  • Cross-contour drawing

  • Relationship drawing

  • Mass Drawing

  • Shapes

  • What is a good shape?

  • Basic shapes

  • Positive and negative shape

  • Light and Shadow Shapes:

  • Basic Perspective 

  • How to show distance.
